Worship at Mudio

Habari!

All fourteen of us from Sheridan worshipped at Mudio this morning. Words can nopt even describe the experience. When we arrived down the street from the church a truck with the brass band from the church greeted us and led us to the church. It was amazing that they could play so well because the roads were less than smooth. As we pulled up outside the church we saw hundreds of kids run out from the church up to the gates to greet us. Paster Munisi greeted us outside the gate and we were followed up the hill to the church surrounded by the kids wanting to hold our hands and singing. It was truly unbelievable.

The worship service was only three hours long with four offerings. Oh and there is not air conditioning either. People really enjoyed Pastor Larry's sermon and so did we being the only part of the service we really understood. Mudio had four different choirs that sang and they were all very amazing. After the service the church has an auction in front of the church. People that do not have much can bring something to auction and then the money that is made from that item is considered their offering. Some people from Sheridan bought some fruit but most of it was given away to Mudio members.

After the auction we were invited to a feast that included roasted goat. I did not think that it was half bad and almost everyone tried a piece of it. Even Lori M(the vegetarian) had a piece and swallowed it! After the meal we took a tour of the church grounds and then had a meeting where Pastor Munisi and Pastor Larry told eachother about the programs at their respective churches. Saltieli Munisi translated for them and us. We learned a lot about the church at Mudio and they have a big vision for ways to help the surrounding community which was very inspiring. Tomorrow all fourteen of us will be at Mudio. The group that just left on Thursday will be helping to work on the kindergarten classroom while the group that went with the synod will be visiting the existing classes and touring the area(I think).

We hope that everyone is doing great back home and we will try to bring back the 90+ degree weather.

Jordan

We also saw Mount Kilimanjaro again today. It is a breathtaking sight.

How awesome!! It all sounds so inspiring! The views, the people, the community...( Ok, maybe not the heat and humidity...or the fancy food...or the immmodium...).
